Shepherd’s Center of Greenbrier Valley is an interfaith ministry to sustain mature adults to live independently by providing opportunities for lifelong learning, community service, caring relationships, and spiritual growth.
We are committed to creating an environment of inclusion where everyone is welcome and encouraged to be their true selves. We value individuals of all ages, religion, nationality, disability, race, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Shepherd’s Center’s ministry is to connect people who need help with those who want to help. These services are free, and anyone can make a referral. Contact the Shepherd’s Center office for more information. If we cannot help, we often know who can.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
"I am blessed and honored to live in this country, this state and this community. I am also blessed with the health and the opportunity to volunteer and reach out to others who might need some assistance, some comfort or just a friend. The Lord has given each of us gifts and talents meant to share, not to keep to ourselves or ration to others. Volunteering is a way that one gets blessed far more than giving it. If you are bored, just open your door and there will be someone in your community who needs you - sometimes to talk with but more often just to listen. VOLUNTEERING - try it, you'll like it. Shepherd's Center of Greenbrier Valley is a good place to start your journey; it works for me!" -Jerry L.
Shepherd's Center of Greenbrier Valley was started by Ann McClung in 1999 after a visit to Shepherd's Centers of America in Kansas City, MO. Seven area churches agreed to sponsor the formation of Shepherd's Center of Greenbrier Valley, we obtained our State Charter, and we were off and running. Adventures in Learning started in 1999 with 45 participants. We now have approximately 150 registrants for AIL sessions. Other programs that have been added through the years are Gwen's Meals delivery, Handy Helper service, Friendly Caller/Visits, transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping for those who are no longer driving, and being a senior resource center in the area. We currently have 24 local congregations and community organizations that support us in various ways. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2024 and look forward to continued growth and expansion, reaching those in our community who need our services.
Join us in empowering individuals and communities through your generous donation to Shepherd's Center of Greenbrier Valley. Together, we can create positive change!
